Columbia’s roots trace back through generations of experience in building maintenance and exterior services. The Columbia name originates from Columbia Building Maintenance, a janitorial-focused business located at 1213 24th St W in Minneapolis, circa 1983. The company’s direction evolved significantly in the early 1990s when Michael LeSage and his father, Donald B. LeSage, acquired the business from Ernest “Ernie” Granum.

 

Following the acquisition, the company shifted its focus toward high-rise window cleaning in Minneapolis and specialized exterior maintenance services. This transition marked a pivotal moment, establishing Columbia Building Services as a leader in servicing complex commercial and high-rise properties.

 

Michael LeSage, now the third-generation owner and President, has played a key role in shaping the company’s growth. With nearly 40 years of hands-on experience, he has continued to build on the company’s foundation while expanding capabilities to meet the evolving needs of modern commercial properties.

 

In 2004, Michael assumed full ownership of the company, continuing its legacy while strengthening its position as a reliable commercial property maintenance company in Minneapolis. Under his leadership, Columbia has expanded its services to include window cleaning, snow removal, pressure washing, rigging, and specialized installation projects.
